  • Back Story

    The events and and background that occurred before the start of the book.

  • Editor

    This person is responsible for acquiring manuscripts for publication and helping the author to modify their work and shape it according to the publishing house's needs.

  • Dialogue

    These are words or conversations spoken by the characters in your writing. This is usually used to advance the plot.

  • Critique

    The manuscript critique is an editorial assessment of a manuscript. It will include an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the work, including pacing, writing style, voice, internal and external conflict, characterization.

    A manuscript critique can be used as a learning tool for a writer looking to improve his/her writing skills.

  • Copy Editor

    The person responsible for correcting errors within your manuscript. The person will look at grammar, spelling, and consistency. If there are problems the copy editor will question the editor and author with problems to solve, and preparing a style sheet of names, places, etc.
